Wolverine Actor Hugh Jackman Diagnosed With Skin Cancer

After a mysterious spot on his nose caused his wife to become concerned, actor Hugh Jackman made an appointment with his doctor. A biopsy of the mark revealed it was in fact cancerous.

Hugh took to Instagram to speak out about the importance of sunscreen in skin cancer prevention and visiting your dermatologist regularly. The photo showed the Wolverine actor’s bandaged nose with this caption, cautioning his fans to protect themselves from the sun’s harmful rays:

“Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basil cell carcinoma. Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!”

Basal-cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer. Though it has a low rate of fatalities, it can cause disfigurement and/or damage to the affected area and surrounding tissue.

Jackman has not revealed any more details about his condition, but we wish him a speedy recovery.
