Live Nation Cancels Joey Bada$$, YG, & Other Hip Hop Shows Afte...

Last Wednesday's shooting at Irving Plaza during T.I.’s concert has sent shock waves through the hip-hop community, as Troy Ave is currently under arrest and facing charges after a security camera revealed him discharging a firearm in a crowded room with people fleeing. As most can imagine, Irving Plaza is on high alert and under much scrutiny after victim and bodyguard to Troy Ave, Ronald Mcphatter was fatally shot and killed. As a result of the aftermath that took place the night Mcphatter lost his life, Live Nation has pulled the plug on six concerts that were scheduled to take place at both Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre.

According to reports, in the lieu of the shooting that happened at Irving Plaza, which wounded three and killed one, concert promoter, Live Nation has now canceled or postponed performances from the likes of YG, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Vince Staples, Appetite for Destruction and Black Pistol Fire.

In a detailed statement to Rolling Stone, a spokesperson for both Irving Plaza and Gramercy shared, "In light of last week's tragic event, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew. Because these discussions with New York Police Department are ongoing, we will be postponing a few of our upcoming shows."

However, the NYPD later refuted the statement implying that they were responsible for the canceled shows, and placed the blame back squarely with the promoter by saying, "There was no NYPD involvement concerning the cancellation of the show at Irving Plaza slated for Thursday evening."

Either way, the six shows that are cancelled were set to kick off Thursday [June.2] with Joey Bada$$’ show at Irving Plaze, and end on Monday[June.6] with YG’s performance at the Gramercy. On Wednesday, The Pro Era rapper took to Twitter to inform his fans that the NYPD had cancelled his Thursday show, just before he decided to delete the tweet altogether.
