Scenes across the United Kingdom show conspiracy theorists turned arsonists burning some 50 5G cell towers after the conspiracy theory linking the coronavirus pandemic to cell phone use picked up steam. Stephen Powis, medical director of the National Health Service in England said to reporters in early April, “I’m absolutely outraged, absolutely disgusted, that people would be taking action against the very infrastructure that we need to respond to this health emergency.”

But the belief in the anti-5G conspiracy theory is not dying down despite the best efforts of public health experts and technology experts, respectively. Dr. Jonathan Samet, dean of the Colorado School of Public Health chaired a World Health Organization committee that researched cell phone radiation and cancer said, “To be concerned that 5G is somehow driving the COVID-19 epidemic is just wrong,” adding, “I just don’t find any plausible way to link them.”
