Proving that a travel destination’s size isn’t important, tiny Montenegro boasts jagged mountains, fabulous beaches and an increasingly sophisticated nightlife, despite being the Balkan states’ smallest country. Although Montenegro wasn’t involved in the complicated 1990s war engulfing the Balkans, the country experienced a drop in visitors by association, a status which is now improving as a fully-fledged EU member. You can buy custom essay online about this period of time.

Montenegro’s compact-sized capital, Podgorica, is a laid-back city where visitors can sit and absorb the ambience while sipping an espresso or partying in one of the many booming nightclubs. Montenegro’s most appealing attraction is most likely its Adriatic coast. Kotor is a seaside town housing a protected area boasting sheer-faced cliffs and historical forts; a must-see along Montenegro’s coastline, known for its abundant picturesque islands and secret coves.

Founded in the Middle Ages by the Venetians, Budva is a rewarding destination as well. The town is home to one of the most popular beach resorts in the country and boasts a panoramic backdrop created by the coastal mountainous region. Once the capital of Montenegro, Cetinje is home to a monastery that was founded in 1448, and the State Museum, which is housed in the former palace. Nature lovers should visit Durmitor National Park, positioned close to the Bosnian border. This park’s awesome Tara Canyon is definitely worth the trip.

Today, Montenegro is one of the European elite’s members, so visitors can expect a diverse and wide range of hotel establishments right up to the most luxurious standards. But be aware that rates in the country aren’t on a par with those in the former USSR bloc. However, tourists on a budget can still find a reasonably priced guestroom to stay overnight, even along the coast and in Podgorica.

Podgorica International Airport, known by the locals as Golubovci Airport, is the principal aviation hub linking tiny Montenegro, the planet’s youngest nation, to other parts of the globe, although passengers from outside Europe will need to pass through Vienna, Rome, Paris or Frankfurt before landing here. Tivat Airport on the northern Adriatic coast receives a number of international flights as well.
