Yamdrok Lake, meaning "jasper lake" and "swan pond" in Tibetan, is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. It is located on the southern bank of the Yarlung Zangbo River, in Langkazi County, Shannan. Yamdroktso is 4,441 meters above sea level, 130 kilometers long from east to west, 70 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total length of 250 kilometers and a total area of 638 square kilometers, which is about 70 times the size of West Lake in Hangzhou. The lakes are 20-40 meters deep, and the deepest point is 60 meters. It is the largest inland lake in the northern foot of the Himalayas. Yamdroktso has many branches, like coral branches, so it is also called "the upper coral lake" in Tibetan.

Yamdrok Lake is known as the most beautiful water in the world. Yamdrok Lake is regarded as "turquoise earrings scattered by goddess" in the minds of Tibetans, because no matter where you are from, you can't see the whole picture of the lake. She has three sisters, Kongmucuo, Shencuo, and Bajucuo. That is to say, the four sisters of the ancient Yamdrok Lake are in a huge lake basin, their hands and feet are connected, it is difficult to give up, and together they form a holy lake that is invisible to our naked eyes. Her body winds through the mountains for more than 130 kilometers. Only on a map or high above you can you be pleasantly surprised to find that she is like an earring, inlaid on the mountain's helix. Under the sunlight at different moments, she will show an extremely rich blue, like a dream.
